What’s it really like living in Googong? We figured the best person to ask wasn’t a brochure; it was Leon, our Sales Representative, unofficial tour guide, and one of the biggest advocates the township has.
If you’ve ever visited the Googong Sales Centre, chances are you’ve bumped into Leon. He’s guided hundreds of families through their move here, and he’s still just as enthusiastic about Googong as the day he started. We sat down with him to talk about the township, the community, and what’s coming next.
Getting to know Leon
Question: How long have you been selling land at Googong, and what got you into it?
Answer: I started working in Googong in late 2023. I saw a wonderful opportunity to be involved in an amazing community and to work with a team that is passionate about the Googong township.
Question: What’s the most common comment you get from first-time visitors at Googong?
Answer: First-time visitors to Googong are amazed at how well planned and beautiful the township is. Many are surprised that Googong is only around 25 minutes to Canberra city — closer than some Gungahlin suburbs.
Best things about Googong
Question: What’s coming up that you’re personally excited about?
Answer: The opening of the Googong Hotel later this year will be a great addition to the township. It’s going to be a wonderful meeting place for the community. And early next year, the opening of Googong Public High School will be a real milestone in the growth of the township.
Question: What’s your favourite spot in Googong?
Answer: The Googong Sales Office has a pretty special outlook over the pond. Call in and see for yourself!
Question: What’s your favourite time of year to be in Googong, and why?
Answer: Spring is always great in Googong. The landscaping and plantings put on a colourful show every year.
Question: If you had to describe Googong to someone who’s never heard of it, what would you say?
Answer: I’d invite you to take a drive out to Googong. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be impressed by the open space, the planning, and the high quality of the township. And who knows — I might even have a great block of land available for your new home!
