Googong is Taking Shape – See How Far We’ve Come
There’s something special about seeing Googong from above. The latest video captures just how much progress is happening across our growing township, from expanding neighbourhoods and new homes through to major projects taking shape in the future Town Centre.
What started as a bold vision for a connected and sustainable community continues to become reality. Today, more than 9,000 residents call Googong home, with the township continuing to evolve as new facilities, Schools, services and neighbourhoods are built.
A Future Town Centre Coming to Life
Construction across the Town centre continues to ramp up, with the area set to become the heart of everyday life in Googong. This is where the day-to-day errands, coffee catch-ups and weekend wandering will happen. Designed as a main street with a mix of retail, dining, services and green space mixed together.
The Googong Hotel Takes Shape
Works on the new hotel are progressing well, bringing much-anticipated hospitality to the town, for visiting family and friends. Together with surrounding retail and commercial developments, the hotel will help create a vibrant destination that serves both residents and visitors for years to come. The Googong Hotel is expected to open November 2026
Growing Communities and New Neighbourhoods
Beyond the Town Centre, New streets, homes and infrastructure are steadily extending the community footprint, with works underway to support future residents and enhance connections between neighbourhoods. Set against the backdrop of the Molonglo Ranges, each new stage contributes to the vision of a well-connected town that balances modern living with access to nature and open space.
Learning Close To Home
Googong’s growth is about far more than new homes and infrastructure. It’s about creating a community where families can live, learn and thrive for generations to come.
One of the most significant projects is the new Googong High School, which is on track to welcome its first students in Term 1, 2027. Located adjacent to the future Town Centre, the school represents a major step forward in delivering local education options for the township’s growing population.
The new high school is being designed to support future generations of Googong students, with modern learning spaces, specialist facilities for science, performing arts, hospitality, and wood and metal technologies, along with sports and recreation facilities.
Looking Ahead
From the Town Centre and hotel precinct to expanding neighbourhoods and community infrastructure, the transformation of Googong continues to gather momentum. With exciting projects underway and more milestones on the horizon, the township is steadily evolving into the thriving regional centre envisioned from the very beginning.
