Everything a Googonian could need

Because Googong is such a massive project, we’re delivering the town’s infrastructure over time, as the town’s population grows. Already the thousands of residents in our first two neighbourhoods, Googong North and Googong Central, enjoy a high level of amenity with a significant investment in local infrastructure, including the following.

Schools

The Anglican School Googong opened in 2015 and enrols students from Early Learning to Year 12. The Googong Public School opened in 2023, and a public secondary school is proposed in the years ahead.

A purpose-built water and sewer system

Googong's Integrated Water Cycle system delivers recycled water to every home for toilet flushing and garden watering, as well as providing irrigation for parks and open spaces. Potable water consumption will be reduced by over 62%.

Club Googong

Club Googong has a heated 25m indoor swimming pool, outdoor kids splash deck, tennis courts and a small gym. It is located located at 27 Beltana Avenue. In 2019 the facility was bought by Aquatots who run a comprehensive swim school program, while the tennis courts are owned and managed by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council.

Googong North Village Centre

The Googong North Village Centre has an IGA supermarket, liquor store, local pub, Our Place Childcare, Domino’s Pizza, a cafe, a hair and beauty salon, Club Lime gym, a GP clinic and a Community Centre, pharmacy, vet, dentist and pathology services.

Eight local playgrounds

Googong has eight playgrounds currently open, including an all abilities playground. A pump track offers three courses from beginner to advanced, and there is a skate park, basketball court, tennis courts and netball courts. More playgrounds, including an adventure playground, are being planned and built in each neighbourhood.

Sports Facilities

Rockley Oval and Duncan Fields already host cricket, Aussie Rules and soccer games and there is a double football field and second cricket/AFL field on Wellsvale Drive. There are two tennis courts (and eventually a tennis centre), six netball courts and a skate park and a pump track. The Googong Sports and Recreation Club, an indoor pool and sports centre, a tennis centre and another eight playing fields are planned.

Three dog parks

Googong has three dog parks for four-legged residents and their two-legged owners to enjoy. One is located at Rockley Oval on Rockley Parade. Barkley Park on Duncan Loop is especially large and includes a dam. A third dog park, Scentral Bark, has two fenced areas for large or small dogs and is located on Austin Grove, Googong.

Gas, NBN fibre to the home and mobile phone coverage

Googonians can enjoy all the luxuries of modern living, including super-fast access to the NBN network to keep you connected to your digital world.

Network of walking paths, bike paths and bush trails

Over 15km of walking paths, bike paths and bush trails are already built, and future stages will further expand on this network.

A Community Garden

A Community Garden is established in Googong North, allowing residents to lease a garden plot and grow their own produce. Another two community gardens are planned.

Road improvements

There has been a significant investment in road improvements, connecting Googong to Jerrabomberra, Queanbeyan, Canberra and the region. Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council have completed work on the Ellerton Drive Extension and the $31m duplication of Old Cooma Road to the entrance of the town.

Googong Town Centre

The Googong Town Centre will include two major supermarkets, a range of retail, restaurant and entertainment options including the Googong Hotel (a function, food and entertainment hub), a community centre, library, medical centre, petrol station, and fire station. The Town Centre is expected to open in 2026.

Googong unveils $143 million town centre

Googong Central, our town’s second neighbourhood, will provide 1800 dwellings for 4,500 residents; as well as a shopping precinct with two major supermarkets, a library, community centre, council shopfront, fire station and more. There will be a public secondary school, an indoor pool and sports centre, Googong Sports & Recreation Club, a second community garden, several more playing fields and tennis courts, and netball courts.
