A new state of the art facility is opening at Googong this weekend to provide the township’s four-legged residents with their very own recreation space.

Googong Project Director Malcolm Leslie says the landscape team has been working like dogs to prepare the special new facility and to ensure it has every modern amenity for Googong’s canine clients.

“We’ve been going at full pace to bring this beautiful park up to scratch and to ensure all of our residents––including furry ones––have access to purpose- designed and built leisure facilities,” he says.

“This special park has been a major priority, and it completes the suite of amenities that have been established to ensure our early residents have access to state-of-the-art community, leisure and recreational facilities.”

These include Club Googong with its heated pool, gym, tennis courts and cafe, a full sized AFL sports field with floodlighting, purpose built change facility, canteen and seating for spectators, two cricket nets and an artificial cricket wicket for junior cricket, a playground for primary kids to early teens, and barbecue facilities.

Mr Leslie says extensive canine testing is being undertaken on the new park to ensure all facets of the facility are trialled and assessed for dogability.
