View the initial concept plans for Googong
CIC is currently seeking community views about its initial concept plans which include a draft master plan for the whole site and for the first neighbourhood. This complements, but is separate to, Queanbeyan City Council's public exhibition of its Draft Local Environmental Plan. Comments on this rezoning document should be directly addressed to Council.
You can view and comment on these plans in two ways:
- by viewing the Concept Plan page on this website and offering your views via the Feedback page
- by attending a community information and feedback session on Saturday 9th February 2008 between 11am and 2pm in the Crawford Room of Queanbeyan Community Centre, 262 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan.
A static display of the concept plans will be available to view in the Queanbeyan Business Council's Visitor Information Centre, 1 Farrer Place, Queanbeyan until Wednesday 16th January 2008.
Our approach to consultation
The consultation process for Googong is being designed and managed on behalf of CIC Limited by specialists Elton Consulting . The approach is underpinned by a number of consultation principles. In practice, these are intended to ensure that:
- the community and stakeholders are aware of, and engaged in, the process of planning for Googong;
- full information, including information on stakeholder and community issues and priorities, informs the planning process; and
- master plan options will not be finalised until the community and stakeholders have had the opportunity to comment on them.
Stakeholders include neighbours in adjoining areas, interest groups and associations, infrastructure providers, government agencies (Federal, NSW and ACT), local government officers and elected members, community leaders, nearby Chambers of Commerce and Progress Associations. The Community to be consulted includes people living in the area of the site and others with an interest in its future.
