About Googong Image

What is Googong?

Googong is a new township nestled within a picturesque site just 16km from Parliament House and 4km south-east of Jerrabomberra.

The new masterplanned township, which will be built on 780 hectares of former grazing land, will take 20 to 25 years to create and include 5,550 homes of varying types and sizes to house about 16,000 people.

After more than eight years of studies, reviews, consultations and investigations, the NSW Government re-zoned the Googong site on 24 December 2009 to allow work on the township to start.

Who’s behind Googong?

CIC Australia is the company responsible for the vision behind Googong. We have been working collaboratively with Queanbeyan City Council and the NSW Department of Planning to ensure the ground work for all aspects of this township have been carefully considered before the first sod is even turned.

About Googong Image

The concept

The whole township, from concept to completion, will be built for the residents and visitors who will live, work and recreate at Googong.

The township will take its design cues from traditional townships not suburban subdivisions that simply tack onto the edge of a suburb that currently exists.

This completely new, self-contained township will set new benchmarks in housing choice, community facilities, recreational and employment opportunities.

The vision

This notion of a new beginning, the chance to design and create a completely new township, ensures that Googong will become CIC Australia’s flagship project. Googong provides a blank canvas on which to showcase the very best in design and sustainability across social, cultural, environmental and economic areas.

Fundamental to our vision is capturing the essence of Googong’s landscape and creating a sense of place for the people who will eventually call Googong home. We want to create a community unlike any other in the region, which will deliver everything homebuyers expect from a contemporary development in the 21st century without losing the traditional benefits and sense of belonging that existed in townships of the past.
